I’ve gone to Kajabi plenty of times now, and I can say that I appreciate that I didn’t have to learn any advanced technical jargon just to use its features. Kajabi does all the coding for you. This saves you both time and effort.
Kajabi allows users to create websites that host their course content. This is something not all course builders have. As there is a lot of potential in selling courses, it also offers a slew of marketing and sales tools to promote them to a wider audience. These include checkouts and payments as well as detailed analytics and integrations. This is especially useful if your content is sold as products.
It doesn’t end there. Aside from making content and selling them efficiently, Kajabi has a rich library of resources and support that you can always fall back into anytime a problem arises. You can learn valuable information, improve your earning potential, and access a large database of videos and help articles.

While we can appreciate how well-loved this platform is when it comes to course-building, we can’t ignore some of its lapses, such as its pricey plans and lack of other crucial features such as certifications and other advanced tools.
Using Kajabi in a Nutshell: How It Works
Ever since I came across this platform, I’ve never been so glad to have Kajabi as my go-to place for promoting the skills I know and selling them to those who are thirsty for knowledge. It’s great to learn more about it.

Essentially, with Kajabi, you get to do a wide variety of ways:
- You can either build your courses from the templates provided or create them from scratch.
- You can create any type of website you like to display your content. It could be your homepage/store, your course content landing page, or a space for customers to visit. Kajabi Funnels
- Sell any type of product whether they be free as a bonus, charged with competitive one-time payment pricing, or as subscriptions; and
- Make use of its range of marketing, reporting, and sales functions to acquire a wider reach from sales funnel blueprints to affiliates.
Kajabi is commonly used in two ways: to build products that will be marketed and sold in a uniquely personalized platform, and to simply create a website to host other types of content and solutions beyond courses.
Kajabi is the reason I personally use it. It allows me to create, host and sell content I feel confident in putting out. But, either way, its impressive capacities have created this service a leading platform for sharing new things with people from all walks of life.
Kajabi’s Pricing Plan
Kajabi currently offers three pricing options, namely:
- The Basic Plan, which costs as low as $119/month (billed annually from here onward),
- The Growth Plan, priced starting at $159/month, and
- The Pro Plan, which costs $319/month.
The Basic plan allows you to create three products and three sales funnels. You can also create unlimited landing pages, marketing e-mails and gain up to 1000 customers.
The Growth tier lets you explore mostly the same features as the previous one, plus upgrades such as 10,000 customers, ten admin users for one website, advanced automations, the Kajabi affiliate program, and the ability to remove all Kajabi branding from your site and courses.
Meanwhile, Kajabi Pro further expands the number of features with access to the code editor, on top of level-up upgrades like an allowance for 100 products and 100 funnels, 20,000 customers, three websites, and a total of 25 admin users.
It cannot currently offer a completely free plan, which may be unfortunate for those who may be wondering if there ever was one. Kajabi offers a 14-day free trial on all of its plans. If you are interested in giving it a try, this is the time to do so.
Kajabi is often criticized for its high price range. Some platforms offer premium plans at half or even a quarter of the cost of Kajabi’s Basic tier. Kajabi’s premium plans can seem a little too expensive for those who have used them before. Based on my experience, however, I can empathize somewhat with Kajabi’s premium plans. It went above and beyond with its services, user experience, and pricing.
Kajabi’s Features: A Complete Breakdown
As a one-stop place for all business and content needs, Kajabi is committed to making sure you have enough resources to step into the entrepreneurial world. And by that, I mean there’s more than what you can expect. Let’s now take a look at some of the key features of the platform and break them down one-by-one.
Course Management and Creation
Kajabi is one of the many platforms that specialize on educational entrepreneurship. But the task of course building isn’t always so easy to the point where you could take it for granted. Kajabi knows the struggles creators face. That’s why it went the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly, while also addressing the common issues most people can relate to. Kajabi provides a space for its users where they can create powerful courses while also having all the tools they need to expand their reach. This includes how to get more subscribers using convincing teasers and sharing what they know with unique ways to keep them coming back.
Courses as Products
According to Kajabi, products can refer to any digital course that you are bound to take. It can also refer to other forms that may, or may not, contain the usual course content. Some similar platforms simply refer to these products as courses due to their educational nature. Kajabi on the other hand, understands the importance of the term. It’s not only the amount of knowledge that goes into making a product feasible, but also how it sells to people around the world.
As of this writing, Kajabi offers seven different types of products. Each product can be used as a template or blueprint that you can immediately generate and modify. One of those is an Online Course in which you’re allowed to create a content-filled course with as many lessons and media files and as much information as possible. The other is, straight-up, a Blank blueprint where you can simply start from scratch and add whatever you wish to add.
Apart from the main course and blank template, other product blueprints offered by Kajabi include:
- Mini-courses – for whenever you want to produce a quick, easy-to-digest course as a freebie or bonus, something to build extra value for your brand and anticipation for what’s to come
- Evergreen Training, also known as Drip Courses gives you a strategic framework. Course lessons are released regularly, preferably over a number of weeks.
- The Coaching Program is designed by Wall Street bestseller Brendan Burchard. It allows you to create a 12-week coaching program to help you improve your skills.
- Membership – This is for when all of your content needs are met in one platform that your subscribers can access at any time.
- For when you want to make a community where your members can share their thoughts and ideas about your courses, and other matters.
The Course Building Process
Once you have chosen your preferred product template, it is time to start building your course. Add whatever else is needed. Whether you do it from scratch or tailor it from an existing template, the next best thing you must do is incorporate all the knowledge and skills you’ve collected through the years into an information-enriched course.
As you navigate through Kajabi’s course builder page, you’ll get to explore a multitude of customization and editing options. You can add the title and sections of the course to Kajabi’s course builder page, upload a poster or thumbnail that matches your goals, and adjust the flow of your outline.
You can also upload downloadable PDFs and attach media files. Bulk uploads are possible using cloud storage software. You can also use Kajabi’s course creator to create clones and add announcements within your course to keep students interested.
The Course Framework
In Kajabi, the sections that comprise the course are referred to as categories, while the lessons placed under those categories are named posts. A product’s category may contain a placeholder for subtopics that are related to the main topic. Similar applies to posts. The subtopics under the primary topic are replaced by lessons under each one.
Kajabi allows you to add categories to the posts. This is especially useful if you have a large curriculum and want to break it down into manageable parts that your students can understand.

Kajabi gives you the option to release the product’s contents either periodically or simultaneously. You can choose to release the content of Drip Courses within a few days, or even one week, depending on how long you want. You may also opt for the Lock feature to block students’ access to any category unless they finish a prerequisite.
Exploring Kajabi’s Course Player
For every course, there needs to be a place where they can be presented for anyone to see, click, and go further – and an attractive one, too. Kajabi’s Course Player feature is precisely what it aims to be, with an optimized platform to store and present your products to the students that are subscribed to them. The customization capabilities extend beyond the courses themselves and into the course player, encouraging a better learning experience for everyone involved.
Kajabi has over 10 default course player themes to choose from. You may find that most platforms only offer three themes, or one in-store. Comparing that to Kajabi’s larger range will immediately show the difference. What I particularly like about it is that there are more options to explore – Kajabi surely may be quite too pricey to afford for some, but we can at least appreciate how much it gives to offer us this privilege! You can choose from any of the course theme themes and customize it as you wish. Since Kajabi prioritizes convenience as best as possible, you won’t need to learn code just to make your course player look good. Or, if you’re better equipped with web design skills, you may opt to upload your fully-personalized theme instead!
Instructor-Student Interactions and Assessments
Communication is crucial to student success and an opportunity to earn the trust of the instructor. For this reason, Kajabi provides a variety of ways for you and your members to interact. The Community feature is one of these. You can offer it as a separate product or as part of your membership package. It works like a social media site where subscribers can post, view who’s online, comment on lessons, and share them. You can manage, hide or disable comments for every lesson.
A surefire way to keep your members engaged is through assessments, which involves creating quizzes based on the lessons you’ve taught them to stimulate their minds. There are different types of questions that you may use to create an assessment, from multiple-choice questions to paragraph fill-ins. To encourage students to do better, you may set a passing score. If not, don’t give them any pressure.
Although Kajabi’s assessment tool may be impressive, it is quite obvious that it lacks delivery. Kajabi appears to be the only course-building service that doesn’t offer native certification tools, which is a significant difference from other services. I don’t mind about it as much, but for those who like to give out certificates, you may be out of luck in this one. Having this one asset in Kajabi would have been helpful to reward students easily for their achievements such as finishing the course.
Website Building Tools
Kajabi’s ability to provide powerful, yet easy tools for creating websites is another important aspect. Kajabi’s built-in website builder allows you to create and customize your website without having to rely on third-party providers. As expected, the platform provides free hosting on all plans to have your visions come to life!
Although the Kajabi website builder can be very easy to use, there are times when it can be confusing. Drag-and-drop is available for the editor. However, it is not what you would expect. Instead of “drag/drop the blocks/widgets out of the menu and place them in the workspace”, you can drag sections of a page from top to bottom from the left-hand navigation menu. The workspace will then reflect the changes.
Website Themes and Customization
Kajabi’s website creator allows you to choose from 14 themes (eight regular themes and six heritage themes) along with a complete set of pages. After you have chosen the right theme for your website, it is possible to customize it according to your flow and vision. Kajabi Funnels
This can be done by adding or removing each page’s construction blocks. These include many types of content like text and font styles as well as media widgets, pricing and offers, FAQs and testimonials. To grab the attention of your audience, you can include countdown widgets and fill-in forms as well as social media content and call-to-action buttons.
The customization doesn’t stop there with building blocks, as Kajabi offers a few alternative ways to personalize your website. One is by tweaking the overall look to fit your or your business’s aesthetic through the theme settings tab. With it, you may change the site’s default typography, icons, color scheme, or even the background of a whole page to a different color or profile.
Another option is to upload a custom theme that’s not in Kajabi’s collection, much like with Course Player. Kajabi allows you to connect your custom domain to the site you have just created. The platform may already have a default domain prepared for you, but if you’re looking forward to maximizing your business without the Kajabi branding, you can by connecting to a domain purchased from a third-party platform like GoDaddy.
The Types of Pages You Need for Your Website
A common Kajabi theme is made up of pages that are linked to each other as soon as you click them. These pages include the home page that explains the basics of your business, the library where you can store all your Kajabi content, and a place where customers can buy your products.

You have the ability to add or delete any page from any Kajabi-optimized template. You have more options than just landing and home pages. These include a log-in page and thank-you screen, portfolio, FAQ and policies pages. If you happen to have blogging as part of your specialties or skills, there is a separate blogging page that lets you compile your published posts into an archive that readers can look into at any time.
Blogging Capabilities
Speaking of blogging pages, did you know that Kajabi has a built-in blogging feature that allows you to create posts and publish them for anyone to see? We all know that blogs can be used to post articles related to a variety of topics, even those that may be adjacent to one’s current skill set, right? Well, Kajabi’s version has much of the same purpose.
If you wish to give updates on the products or content you plan to release in the future, share a handful of tips based on what you’ve learned so far in your chosen path as a means to inspire others, or offer search engine-optimized articles to boost your traffic in any way, you may fancy yourself with Kajabi’s blogging tools. It works in the same way as other well-recognized blogging platforms like WordPress. You simply type the words you want, the media files and hyperlinks you want to share and the tags you feel are more appropriate for your post. You can choose to publish the post immediately or schedule it to be published later. Although Kajabi’s blogging tool may not be as dynamic as WordPress’s, it is functional enough to be used by anyone.
Marketing, Sales, and CRM
In course management, how you market and sell your products can either make or break your brand standing. An effective marketing strategy has a better chance for your creations to gain clout and revenue. A poorly organized strategy can lead to low to no turnouts. The process of planning how to make products as sellable as possible can be such a daunting task, and Kajabi remedies this by providing an impressive suite of marketing and sales tools designed to maximize your platform and ease your convenience. It is also surprising to me that it outperforms other top competitors in this field.
Convenient Sales Pipelines
A well-designed sales funnel could lead to better opportunities for your business, but designing one can be quite a struggle, especially if you’re not that well-versed in marketing stuff. Kajabi comes to the rescue with its effectively designed pre-made pipelines, all of which are customizable and ready for use. There are 14 templates in total, seven of which are default and seven for legacy templates.
Each of these is specialized for how you want to promote your products – you may give out freebies to potential subscribers to keep them enticed, showcase your courses in a way that leads them straight to the sales page, run a coaching campaign, or even hold a Zoom meeting to increase leads. Sales pipeline blueprints are a big help in generating leads and increasing traffic leading to my content, and I honestly have never been glad to be able to use them.
As with some popular course platforms that have this feature, Kajabi’s collection sales pipelines are convenient and straightforward, plus it requires zero expert skills to get things right as the blueprint is automatically laid out for you. Kajabi’s sales funnel includes cards that contain pages, automations and sequences that will be welcomed by your customers.
Marketing by E-mail and Automations
E-mail marketing is a reliable strategy for businesses of any size. It can be used to promote new releases by musicians or to update your customers about new and current items at your favorite retailers. This is also true for courses and other learning material – Kajabi’s integrated e-mail marketing function helps to keep your customers and members highly engaged with what you have released.
There are two types of e-mail campaigns you might want to explore: e-mail broadcasts for whenever you want to send a single e-mail related to your courses to your subscribers (like a newsletter), and sequences where you create messages to be sent based on the user’s activity via automations. It may seem familiar to some, but it can be a time-saver for those who don’t know much about e-mail automations. Kajabi Funnels
Automations are generally designed to reduce the workload. In this instance, you won’t need to send e-mails manually as you can set them to correspond to student actions. Kajabi’s email sequencing feature allows you to create messages and choose the time they should be sent. You can also tag subscribers that meet certain conditions and put them into different categories.
Campaigns and automations aside, did you know that you can also create e-mails within Kajabi? The platform has a variety of templates that you can choose and use, and its e-mail editor allows you to edit how you want it to look the same way you’d do with website pages – tweak the hierarchy of your building blocks from top to bottom, add sections, and, if you have an eye for design, switch up the color palette and upload images to further set the mood.

CRM for managing members
It can be difficult to manage individuals who have subscribed to your courses. This is especially true if the platform you use for this purpose is not stable. Kajabi and other course management tools have functional CRM (customer relationship management) tools.
Kajabi’s CRM section (also known as People if you sign-in) allows you to monitor the activities of your members remotely. You can see who bought your products, who subscribed to your membership and track their progress. You can also see who has been inactive longer.
Check out the profile of one of your students to learn more about them. Here you can see the student’s life, how long they have been enrolled in your course, and detailed information such as when and where they signed up. Kajabi’s People can help you see who is performing poorly and give them feedback and, if needed, some freebies to get them on the right track.
Kajabi’s CRM features go beyond the People dashboard. Course assessments and affiliate management are included in the bundle. The former has been discussed in detail before, but the latter is something we are about to discover.
Kajabi Affiliate Program
As a way of expanding its reach, a successful business can recruit affiliates. Limited only to users in the Growth and Pro plans, the Kajabi Affiliate Program offers them a handful of resources needed to transform their members into trustworthy affiliates of your brand. You simply need to convince your most active students to sign up for the program. They may also be eligible to receive a portion of your earnings.
Kajabi Affiliates will help you build a bigger following. Your chances of increasing your conversion rate and generating more clicks could be higher with Kajabi Affiliates. If you’re already established in the industry you’re working in, you might find this one practical as you can manage and track your affiliates and how they’re doing to boost your leads and profit from the comforts of a specialized separate dashboard. Sales, Payments, and Accurate Analytics
Most course management services often take a little bit of, too much of, or half the percentage of your profits made from selling courses. Kajabi ensures that you get the money you make from selling courses. Kajabi is my favorite platform because I can keep 100% of the revenue I make from selling my products. This gave me a tremendous morale boost, which I don’t get from other platforms.
While I can understand why they needed to make cuts to maintain their business model, it is a problem for edupreneurs who want to grow and are keen to improve. Kajabi offers a solution that will allow them to grow, despite their high price tag. You can control how refunds are handled, in addition to the advantage of keeping your earnings private. Kajabi doesn’t have to be strict about this, and allows its users to make their own decisions. They can let their members access their content even after they request a refund.
Kajabi offers native integrations with the payment gateway outlets Stripe and PayPal. Stripe takes care of primarily credit and debit cards as well as e-wallet providers, and there’s no need to explain further about PayPal since it’s a very common mode of payment online. You may have to pay service fees for the payment gateway that you use. Technically, your revenue would be deducted, but not significantly.
Want to gain in-depth insights to help improve your business? Kajabi’s analytics and reporting features may be just two of the numerous ways to achieve this. The analytics has ratings, charts, and graphs that clearly show how your courses are doing so far, with accuracy close to a T. Kajabi Access is one of Kajabi’s most recent offerings. It gives entrepreneurs support and guidance to help them succeed in their industry. The price may be as steep as those of the tiers we have discussed early on in the review, but if we already know a thing or two about Kajabi’s quality, it’s that there is so much it has to offer compared to other platforms – it checks! Kajabi University, which is similar to Kajabi Access and offers a wealth of learning resources that will help entrepreneurs start a business. While the former achieves it mainly through intimate encounters with bona fide experts and noteworthy upgrades, the latter does it by letting you sift through a rich library of informative courses that you can enroll in – and download – at any time. All the content made for Kajabi University is divided into dedicated boot camps and how-to guide sets, difficulty levels, and different niche themes. Speaking of Kajabi Heroes, it’s worth noting that, apart from the online interactions, Kajabi takes it seriously when it comes to giving its user base the best it has to offer – not just figuratively, but literally. Kajabi affectionately calls each customer who uses the platform to achieve success a “Hero.” The Hero Rewards program allows Hero’s to receive gifts and other freebies right at their doorstep once they have reached certain milestones. - Its customization capabilities can be used to create custom solutions that are both simple and robust.
- It takes zero percent of your profits, and you’d only need to pay service fees to either Stripe or PayPal
- It provides a social media-esque feed where you and your members can interact and communicate with one another
- It is known for its excellent customer service and rich information resource library.
- It prioritizes its user base community over all other features.

The Cons
- It has a higher price range compared to other course-building platforms – this is because it follows a different framework and business model that doesn’t resort to burdening the user
- It lacks a native certification tool to use for rewarding students; it also falls short in its assessment features such as the inability to set the duration of each question and upload question files
- Its management feature lacks other essential and advanced tools like SMS marketing, custom tracking for affiliates, and inventory tracking
- Though flexible and easy to use as the interface may seem, some of its functions may be confusing to use at times
Alternatives to Kajabi
It took me many years of research and skillful thinking to find the right course management platform for me when I started my journey into educational entrepreneurship. It also has partly an advantage in its set of plans – Thinkific’s equivalent to the Kajabi Basic tier lets you create unlimited courses and students for only $74 per month, and its free plan is a great way for absolute newbies to start their journey in edupreneurship. Though Thinkific and Kajabi have a near-identical range of features and can accommodate both beginners and those with budget and expertise, it’s worth noting that there are some aspects that one may excel better than the other.
#2: Teachable
Teachable is another popular service that has a good reputation and a lot of clout. It excels in the creation of enriching course content. You will find a wide range of features that make it a competitive and complete course management tool, such as native certification, drag and drop editing and additional options like one-on-one coaching.
The payment gateway support for Teachable is also diverse, allowing users to add Google Pay and Apple Pay options, in addition to credit/debit and e-wallet. While its dynamic course-building has helped get Teachable to where it is today, it does lack in other aspects, most notably its community-building capabilities. Although Kajabi’s platform and offerings offer a great opportunity for dynamic use, it is not without its limitations. I’ve had some issues with its lack of other core and advanced tools, plus extra marketing and product management options.
The confusion with the editing layout doesn’t help either. The interface was not what I expected when I first explored the website editor. Perhaps it was my insatiable desire to use the editor, to the point that I forgot to read the instructions or my recurring practice of dragging and dropping into any editor.
Regardless, there is a fairly slight learning curve in some parts, so watch out!
