This saves you both time and effort.
Kajabi allows users to create websites that host their course content. This is something not all course builders have. As there is a lot of potential in selling courses, it also offers a slew of marketing and sales tools to promote them to a wider audience. This includes checkouts and payments, sales funnels, detailed analytics, and even integrations – all very useful, especially if you sell your content as products for a living.
It doesn’t stop there. Aside from making content and selling them efficiently, Kajabi has a rich library of resources and support that you can always fall back into anytime a problem arises. With a huge database of help articles and videos, on-demand training courses with Kajabi University, and a budding community of Kajabi Hero entrepreneurs, you may get to learn a lot of valuable information and even improve how you earn to the max.

However, there are some glaring omissions like its expensive plans and lack of key features such as certifications.

Essentially, with Kajabi, you get to do a wide variety of ways:
- You can either build your courses from the templates provided or create them from scratch.
- Build any kind of website to house whatever you want to showcase, whether it be a homepage/store for your course content, a landing page, a place for customers to check out, or space for you and your customers to connect; Kajabi Users
- You can sell any product, whether it’s free, a bonus, or a subscription.
- You can use its marketing, reporting and sales functions to reach more people, from affiliates to sales funnel blueprints.
Kajabi can be used to create products and sell them in a unique platform. Or to simply host other content and solutions on the website.
I’ve personally used Kajabi for the first and primary reason why it was established in the first place – to make, host, and sell content that I’ve always been confident in putting. Its impressive capabilities have made it a top platform for sharing new information with people from all walks.
Kajabi’s Pricing Plan
Kajabi currently offers three pricing options:
- The Basic Plan costs just $119/month and is billed annually starting here.
- The Growth Plan starts at $159/month
- The Pro Plan, which costs $319/month.
The Basic plan allows you to create three products and three sales funnels. You can also create unlimited landing pages, marketing e-mails and gain up to 1000 customers.
The Growth Tier allows you to explore most of the features, plus upgrades like 10,000 customers, ten administrators for one site, advanced automations and the Kajabi affiliate programme. You can also remove all Kajabi branding and from your website and courses.
Kajabi Pro continues to expand the features of the site with access the code editor. There are also level-up upgrades such as an allowance for 100 products or 100 funnels, 20,000 customers and three websites.
It cannot currently offer a completely free plan, which may be unfortunate for those who may be wondering if there ever was one. But, despite this, Kajabi does offer a free 14-day trial for each of its available plans. So, if you want to give it a test drive, now may be the perfect chance.
A common criticism Kajabi has received is how expensive the price range is compared to other platforms, as some offer their version of premium plans starting at a quarter or even half the price of Kajabi’s Basic tier. Kajabi’s premium plans can seem a little too expensive for those who have used them before. But based on my experience, I think I kind of empathize with the platform knowing that it went all out with its services and user experience, so it makes sense why the pricing was this way.
Kajabi’s Features – A Comprehensive Breakdown
As a one-stop place for all business and content needs, Kajabi is committed to making sure you have enough resources to step into the entrepreneurial world. You can expect more from Kajabi than you might think. Let’s now take a look at some of the key features of the platform and break them down one-by-one.
Course Creation and Management
The ability to create meaningful course content is at the heart of many full-fledged platforms that specialize in educational entrepreneurship (edupreneurship, if you will), Kajabi included. Kajabi understands the struggle many creators often face, so that’s why it took extra steps to ensure that everything goes according to plan, all while easing the difficulties most individuals can relate to. Kajabi provides a space for its users where they can create powerful courses while also having all the tools they need to expand their reach. This includes how to get more subscribers using convincing teasers and sharing what they know with unique ways to keep them coming back.
Courses and Products
In Kajabi’s terms, products refer to any type of digital course you’re bound to make. You can also use it to refer to other forms of the course content. Some similar platforms simply refer to these products as courses due to their educational nature. Kajabi on the other hand, understands the importance of the term. It’s not only the amount of knowledge that goes into making a product feasible, but also how it sells to people around the world.
Kajabi currently offers seven types of products. Each product can be used as a template or blueprint that you can immediately generate and modify. One of those is an Online Course in which you’re allowed to create a content-filled course with as many lessons and media files and as much information as possible. Another is a Blank Blueprint, where you can start from scratch and add anything you want.
Apart from the main course and blank template, other product blueprints offered by Kajabi include:
- Mini-courses – for whenever you want to produce a quick, easy-to-digest course as a freebie or bonus, something to build extra value for your brand and anticipation for what’s to come
- Evergreen Training, also known as Drip Courses gives you a strategic framework. Course lessons are released regularly, preferably over a number of weeks.
- The Coaching Program is designed by Wall Street bestseller Brendan Burchard. It allows you to create a 12-week coaching program to help you improve your skills.
- Membership – This is for when all of your content needs are met in one platform that your subscribers can access at any time.
- Community – for when you want to create a space where you and your members can communicate and share thoughts about your courses and more
The Course Building Process
Once you have chosen your preferred product template, it is time to start building your course. Add whatever else is needed. Whether you do it from scratch or tailor it from an existing template, the next best thing you must do is incorporate all the knowledge and skills you’ve collected through the years into an information-enriched course.
As you navigate through Kajabi’s course builder page, you’ll get to explore a multitude of customization and editing options. You may add the title of the course as well as the sections that make up the course, upload a thumbnail or poster image that suits what you’re aiming and adjust the flow of your entire outline.
You can also upload downloadable PDFs and attach media files. Bulk uploads are possible using cloud storage software. You can also use Kajabi’s course creator to create clones and add announcements within your course to keep students interested.
The Course Framework
The sections of a Kajabi course are called categories. Lessons placed under these categories are called posts. A product’s category may contain a placeholder for subtopics that are related to the main topic. Similar applies to posts. The subtopics under the primary topic are replaced by lessons under each one.
Apart from the categories and posts, Kajabi also allows you to add subcategories under the former – this is quite helpful, especially if you have a huge curriculum in mind and you want to dissect it into digestible parts for your students to understand better.

Kajabi allows you to choose whether the product’s contents are released periodically or simultaneously. In its Drip Courses, especially, you may choose the Drip option to set the release duration of the categories within a few days or even a week from each other. You may also opt for the Lock feature to block students’ access to any category unless they finish a prerequisite.
Explore Kajabi’s Course Players
For every course, there needs to be a place where they can be presented for anyone to see, click, and go further – and an attractive one, too. Kajabi’s Course Player feature is precisely what it aims to be, with an optimized platform to store and present your products to the students that are subscribed to them. The customization capabilities extend beyond the courses themselves and into the course player, encouraging a better learning experience for everyone involved.
Kajabi offers over 10 themes for default course players. You may find that most platforms only offer three themes, or one in-store. Comparing that to Kajabi’s larger range will immediately show the difference. It has more options. While Kajabi may seem too expensive for many, we can still appreciate the privilege it offers us. You can choose from any of the course theme themes and customize it as you wish. Since Kajabi prioritizes convenience as best as possible, you won’t need to learn code just to make your course player look good. You can upload your customized theme if you are more proficient in web design.
Instructor-Student Interactions and Assessments
Communication is crucial to student success and an opportunity to earn the trust of the instructor. For this reason, Kajabi provides a variety of ways for you and your members to interact. The Community feature is one of these. You can offer it as a separate product or as part of your membership package. It works like a social media site where subscribers can post, view who’s online, comment on lessons, and share them. You can manage, hide or disable comments for every lesson.
A surefire way to keep your members engaged is through assessments, which involves creating quizzes based on the lessons you’ve taught them to stimulate their minds. There are different types of questions that you may use to create an assessment, from multiple-choice questions to paragraph fill-ins. To encourage students to do better, you may set a passing score. If not, don’t give them any pressure.
Although Kajabi’s assessment tool may be impressive, it is quite obvious that it lacks delivery. Compared to other course-building services, Kajabi seems to be one of the few that don’t offer native certification tools. I don’t mind about it as much, but for those who like to give out certificates, you may be out of luck in this one. Having this one asset in Kajabi would have been helpful to reward students easily for their achievements such as finishing the course.
Website Building Tools
Kajabi’s ability to provide powerful, yet easy tools for creating websites is another important aspect. Kajabi has a built-in website builder that allows you to create and customize a fully-functioning website of your own without the need to rely on external providers. As expected, the platform provides free hosting on all plans to have your visions come to life!
Although the Kajabi website builder can be very easy to use, there are times when it can be confusing. Drag-and-drop is available for the editor. However, it is not what you would expect. Instead of “drag/drop the blocks/widgets out of the menu and place them in the workspace”, you can drag sections of a page from top to bottom from the left-hand navigation menu. The workspace will then reflect the changes.
Website Themes and Customization
Kajabi’s website creator allows you to choose from 14 themes (eight regular themes and six heritage themes) along with a complete set of pages. After you have chosen the right theme for your website, it is possible to customize it according to your flow and vision. Kajabi Users
This can be done by adding or removing each page’s construction blocks. These include many types of content like text and font styles as well as media widgets, pricing and offers, FAQs and testimonials. You may even incorporate countdown widgets, fill-in forms, social media content, and even call-to-action buttons to catch the audience’s attention.
Kajabi has many other ways to customize your website. One is by tweaking the overall look to fit your or your business’s aesthetic through the theme settings tab. With it, you may change the site’s default typography, icons, color scheme, or even the background of a whole page to a different color or profile.
Another is simply uploading a fully customized theme that’s not part of Kajabi’s library, just like you would with the Course Player. Kajabi allows you to connect your custom domain to the site you have just created. You may have an already-created default domain on the platform. However, if you want to maximize your business without Kajabi branding you can connect to a domain purchased through a third-party platform such as GoDaddy.
The Types of Pages You Need for Your Website
As already mentioned, a common Kajabi website theme is composed of pre-made pages that link to each other even as you click on them. These include the standard home page which normally contains the gist of what your business or service offers, a library to house all the content you’ve uploaded on Kajabi, a functioning store where users can purchase your products on the spot, and, especially, landing and sales pages to help convince new customers to try out your content for themselves.

For every Kajabi-optimized theme, you have the option to delete or add any page you like. There are more page options for you to explore other than home and landing pages, such as a log-in page, thank-you page, 404 error screen, portfolio, FAQ, policies, opt-in pages, and a coming soon page. If you happen to have blogging as part of your specialties or skills, there is a separate blogging page that lets you compile your published posts into an archive that readers can look into at any time.
Blogging Capabilities
Kajabi’s built-in blogging function allows you to publish posts to your blog and make them visible to everyone. Blogs can be used to publish articles on a wide range of topics. Kajabi’s version serves much the same purpose.
If you wish to give updates on the products or content you plan to release in the future, share a handful of tips based on what you’ve learned so far in your chosen path as a means to inspire others, or offer search engine-optimized articles to boost your traffic in any way, you may fancy yourself with Kajabi’s blogging tools. It works in the same way as other well-recognized blogging platforms like WordPress. You simply type the words you want, the media files and hyperlinks you want to share and the tags you feel are more appropriate for your post. Once everything’s ready, you may have the option to either publish it immediately, post it as unlisted, or set a schedule to save time. Kajabi’s blogging feature may not have the same dynamic prowess as WordPress’s, but it’s functional enough for anyone to use.
Marketing, Sales, and CRM
Your brand’s reputation can be affected by how you market your products. A well-designed marketing strategy will increase your chances of creating revenue and clout. Otherwise, a poorly-organized one may lead to low to zero turnouts. Kajabi provides a comprehensive suite of sales and marketing tools that will help you maximize your product’s potential and make it easy to sell. It is also surprising to me that it outperforms other top competitors in this field.
Convenient Sales Pipelines
A well-designed sales funnel could lead to better opportunities for your business, but designing one can be quite a struggle, especially if you’re not that well-versed in marketing stuff. Kajabi’s pre-made, well-designed pipelines are ready to use and customizable. There are 14 templates in total, seven of which are default and seven for legacy templates.
Each of these is specialized for how you want to promote your products – you may give out freebies to potential subscribers to keep them enticed, showcase your courses in a way that leads them straight to the sales page, run a coaching campaign, or even hold a Zoom meeting to increase leads. The sales pipeline blueprints have been a huge help in increasing traffic to my content and generating leads.
As with some popular course platforms that have this feature, Kajabi’s collection sales pipelines are convenient and straightforward, plus it requires zero expert skills to get things right as the blueprint is automatically laid out for you. Kajabi’s sales funnel includes cards that contain pages, automations and sequences that will be welcomed by your customers.
E-mail Marketing and Automations
Sending e-mails is a fail-proof marketing strategy that businesses of all types use, whether it be to promote new releases from musical artists or to share updates on new and on-sale items from your favorite retailers. This is also true for courses and other learning material – Kajabi’s integrated e-mail marketing function helps to keep your customers and members highly engaged with what you have released.
You might be interested in two types of e mail campaigns: email broadcasts, which you can use to send one email to your subscribers about your courses (like a newsletter) and sequences that you create messages based on user activity using automations. It may seem familiar to some, but it can be a time-saver for those who don’t know much about e-mail automations. Kajabi Users
Automations generally exist to ease the burden of your duties – in this case, you wouldn’t have to manually send e-mails as you can schedule them corresponding to students’ actions. Kajabi’s email sequencing feature allows you to create messages and choose the time they should be sent. You can also tag subscribers that meet certain conditions and put them into different categories.
Campaigns and automations aside, did you know that you can also create e-mails within Kajabi? There are many templates available on the platform. The e-mail editor lets you edit the layout the same way as website pages. You can change the order of your building blocks, add sections and even upload images.

CRM for managing members
It can be difficult to manage individuals who have subscribed to your courses. This is especially true if the platform you use for this purpose is not stable. Kajabi and other course management tools have functional CRM (customer relationship management) tools.
Kajabi’s CRM section (also known as People if you sign-in) allows you to monitor the activities of your members remotely. You can see who bought your products, who subscribed to your membership and track their progress. You can also see who has been inactive longer.
You may also explore one of your students in full depth by checking their profile. Here you can see the student’s life, how long they have been enrolled in your course, and detailed information such as when and where they signed up. Kajabi’s People can help you see who is performing poorly and give them feedback and, if needed, some freebies to get them on the right track.
Kajabi’s CRM features go beyond the People dashboard. Course assessments and affiliate management are included in the bundle. The former has been discussed in detail before, but the latter is something we are about to discover.
Kajabi Affiliate Program
As a way of expanding its reach, a successful business can recruit affiliates. The Kajabi Affiliate Program is only available to Pro and Growth plan users. It provides them with a few resources to help transform their members into trusted affiliates for your brand. You simply need to convince your most active students to sign up for the program. They may also be eligible to receive a portion of your earnings.
With Kajabi Affiliates, not only could you get to build a stronger following. Your chances of increasing your conversion rate and generating more clicks could be higher with Kajabi Affiliates. If you’re already established in the industry you’re working in, you might find this one practical as you can manage and track your affiliates and how they’re doing to boost your leads and profit from the comforts of a specialized separate dashboard. You can send them links to share, track how many clicks they have, track potential sales and even kick one out if they aren’t satisfied. Sales, Payments, and Accurate Analytics
Many course management companies take a small percentage, too much, or even half of the profits you make from selling courses. Kajabi, meanwhile, makes sure that the money you earn goes straight into your pocket. Kajabi is my favorite platform because I can keep 100% of the revenue I make from selling my products. This gave me a tremendous morale boost, which I don’t get from other platforms.
I may understand why they had to take cuts as a means to sustain their business model, but for the edupreneurs who are eager to improve, this can be seen as a bit of a disadvantage. Fortunately, Kajabi has a solution to further let them grow, even despite the high price range. You can control how refunds are handled, in addition to the advantage of keeping your earnings private. Kajabi isn’t that strict when it comes to this issue, giving its users the chance to do whatever they want – they can either let their members have access to their content even after requesting a refund or otherwise.
Kajabi offers native integrations with the payment gateway outlets Stripe and PayPal. Because PayPal is a common method of online payment, Stripe handles credit and debit cards. You may have to pay service fees for the payment gateway that you use. Technically, your revenue would be deducted, but not significantly.
Want to gain in-depth insights to help improve your business? Kajabi’s analytics and reporting features may be just two of the numerous ways to achieve this. Analytics provides ratings, charts and graphs to show how your courses are performing so far. You can also explore a variety of reporting options, including net revenue, sales performance, website views, and subscription metrics. Kajabi’s customer service team is divided into chat support and ticket support. First off, its chat support feature, backed by skilled course creation and marketing experts, can be frequented by users regardless of which type of plan they are subscribed to – the only difference lies in the time of availability. The chat feature is only available to Basic subscribers. Growth and Pro users, meanwhile, get to utilize it 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No matter what type of plan you use, rest assured that, if you have any inquiries about the service, you are guaranteed to receive a concise answer in as fast as 15 minutes. Kajabi Users
You may also opt to submit a request ticket if you’re not up to chatting and don’t want to be distracted anyhow. Part of Kajabi’s most recent offerings, Kajabi Access takes on a new spin to how the course management platform provides support to maximize the entrepreneur’s footing in the industry. You can add it to any existing plan at $99 per month. The price may be as steep as those of the tiers we have discussed early on in the review, but if we already know a thing or two about Kajabi’s quality, it’s that there is so much it has to offer compared to other platforms – it checks! Kajabi Access will allow you to have one-on-one conversations with Kajabi’s experts. However, this is limited to six times per year. You’ll get twice the product and funnel allowances, weekly Hero Hub sessions, early access to Kajabi’s latest features and products, and an additional bonus.

Kajabi University, which is similar to Kajabi Access and offers a wealth of learning resources that will help entrepreneurs start a business. The former is achieved mainly by intimate meetings with bona fide professionals and notable upgrades. All the content made for Kajabi University is divided into dedicated boot camps and how-to guide sets, difficulty levels, and different niche themes. These courses last anywhere from six to four hours and can be as short as six minutes long. Such ways include live and on-demand webinars featuring talks from and discussions with experts and distinguished guests, virtual meet-ups where fellow Kajabi creators can connect and share pieces of advice, and exclusive access to the official private Facebook community of Kajabi Heroes. Speaking of Kajabi Heroes, it’s worth noting that, apart from the online interactions, Kajabi takes it seriously when it comes to giving its user base the best it has to offer – not just figuratively, but literally. Kajabi affectionately calls each customer who uses the platform to achieve success a “Hero.” The Hero Rewards program allows Hero’s to receive gifts and other freebies right at their doorstep once they have reached certain milestones. These include a stationery set, clothing merch, accessories such as bags, reusable cups and mugs, and even honorary badges!

By now, you may already be impressed by the sheer amount of offerings the Kajabi platform provides. It has its flaws, but they don’t overshadow its strengths. Let’s look at all of Kajabi’s pros and cons!
The pros:
- It has a sleek and well-organized general user interface, resulting in a robust and fully functional experience for those who navigate it
- It’s easy, flexible, and nearly entirely intuitive to use, from website building and course creation to payment processing
- It provides free website hosting and lets you build a fully functioning one. This is something that a few course management platforms can’t offer.
- It houses a plethora of excellent in-house tools from marketing down to user management – this minimizes the need to integrate with third-party apps
- Its customization capabilities are not just simple but also robust
- It takes zero percent of your profits, and you’d only need to pay service fees to either Stripe or PayPal
- It offers a social media-like feed that allows you and your family members to interact and communicate with each other
- It shines in its reliable customer support system and information-rich learning resource library
- It prioritizes its user base community over all other features.

The Cons:
- It is more expensive than other course-building platforms. This is due to the fact that it uses a different business model and framework. The user doesn’t have to be burdened by it.
- It lacks a native certification tool to use for rewarding students; it also falls short in its assessment features such as the inability to set the duration of each question and upload question files
- Its management feature lacks other essential and advanced tools like SMS marketing, custom tracking for affiliates, and inventory tracking
- Although the interface is flexible and intuitive, there are some functions that can be difficult to use.
Alternatives to Kajabi
It took me many years of research and skillful thinking to find the right course management platform for me when I started my journey into educational entrepreneurship. Since then, my course-building and marketing capabilities have expanded beyond how much skill I used to have when I was a rookie, and so it was fitting for me to move over to other services that would match my increasing demand. Thinkific joins Kajabi among the leading online course management platforms making waves to this day. Thinkific is well-known for its innovative selection of tools that can be used to create courses and foster a community. Its beginner-friendly accessibility makes it easy for anyone to use.
It also has partly an advantage in its set of plans – Thinkific’s equivalent to the Kajabi Basic tier lets you create unlimited courses and students for only $74 per month, and its free plan is a great way for absolute newbies to start their journey in edupreneurship. Although Thinkific and Kajabi offer nearly identical features and can be used by both experts and beginners, there are certain aspects that may make one more appealing than the other.
#2: Teachable
Another popular service with sizable clout and reputation, Teachable shines best when it comes to the process of making enriching course content. You will find a wide range of features that make it a competitive and complete course management tool, such as native certification, drag and drop editing and additional options like one-on-one coaching.
Its payment gateway support is also diversified, allowing users to include Google Pay and Apple Pay options apart from credit/debit, e-wallet, and PayPal. Although Teachable’s dynamic course-building has made it to where it is today it still lacks in many other areas, such as its community-building capabilities. They’ve also generally admired its ability to fit as many features as it can in very budget-friendly pricing plans, with the most premium plan available at as low as $166/month – only a few dollars much cheaper than Kajabi’s $119/mo starter tier. If you want to build a following as an edupreneur but are running a bit short on budget, Podia may be, in my opinion, a more suitable place to do so.

Kajabi is the one-stop-shop for course content management. It surprisingly excels in most (if not all) of the ways you might expect – course-making (to some degree), sales and promoting, websites, heck, even customer support, too!

While Kajabi’s offerings and platform help create an opportunity for dynamic usage, we can’t fully gloss over its limits. I’ve had some issues with its lack of other core and advanced tools, plus extra marketing and product management options.
The confusion with the editing layout doesn’t help either. The interface was not what I expected when I first explored the website editor. Perhaps it was my insatiable desire to use the editor, to the point that I forgot to read the instructions or my recurring practice of dragging and dropping into any editor.
